BIOREMEDIATION OF OIL CONTAMINATED SOILS AND WATER SURFACES

BY PREPARATION “RHODER”

Preparation “Rhoder”, consisting of two oil-degrading non pathogenic strains Rhodococcus genus, was developed for elimination of oil pollution from soils (sand, moss and marshy soils) and water surfaces. The “Rhoder” have been certificated (No.77.99.03.003.Д.003020.06.05) by Russian Ministry of Health and allowed for production & application on the territory of Russian Federation

The applied form of the preparation is lyophilic dry cells or concentrated cell suspension (cell density 109 per one g or 1010 per one ml, respectively) supplemented by some mineral nutrients. The optimal “Rhoder” concentrations are 0.1-1 kg of wet cell suspension per 1 000 square meters of treated surface. Duration of treatments depends on initial total hydrocarbon content and usually is 2 – 8 weeks in warm seasons. Temperature and pH ranges of applicability are 10-320C and 5.8-7.8, respectively.

Numerous testing of preparation “Rhoder” in laboratory, pilot and field conditions in Moscow, Western Siberia, Komi Republic has shown its high efficiency for bioremediation of different hydrocarbon contaminated soils as well as water surfaces: 65-99% removal efficiency under initial total hydrocarbon content of 450 g/kg of dry soil and 450 mg/L of water, respectively.

Author’s supervision is a guarantee of successful bioremediation of hydrocarbon (crude oil) polluted soils and water surfaces. Cost of Author’s supervision consists of travel allowance and required analysis and some fee. It is possible to train a customer staff at their own expense in Lomonosov Moscow State University.
